The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live took place at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Friday, setting the stage to celebrate the year's best music. Lorde kicked off the night with a live performance of her hit single "Royals," which earned three nominations, along with a Best Pop Vocal Album nod for her debut, Pure Heroine. Daft Punk's work with Giorgio Moroder and Panda Bear on "Random Access Memories" also made the list, followed by Camilo Lara of Mexican Institute of Sound's record production and a deserving nomination to Duke Dumont for his track "Need U (100%)."
Over the weekend, critics and fanatics alike gathered at the Event Centre at The Star in Sydney, Australia in anticipation of the 27th annual ARIA Awards. After endless acclaim for his self-titled release, Flume took home awards in three categories, including Breakthrough Artist, Best Male Artist and Best Dance Release, as well as the Artisan Award for 2013 Producer of the Year. The 14th annual Latin GRAMMY Awards took place last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Designed to honor musicians for their incredible work in 2013, the ceremony spanned 18 categories and bestowed artists with 48 awards, two of which were received by an artist from The Windish Agency family. The annual meeting, sponsored by Billboard Magazine, honors key players in the live entertainment industry and features panel discussions and Q&A events, in addition to more informal sessions. Topics will include innovation on tour, artist development and marketing strategies.
Each year, industry professionals gather at Pollstar Live! to join together in a week-long think-tank and conference. The 25th annual event will take place February 19-21, and for the first time ever, will be held in Music City, Nashville, TN. In conference tradition, the final night will feature the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards, a ceremony held at the Omni Hotel to celebrate the achievements of music business elites. The nominees have been revealed, and The Windish Agency is humbled to accept a nomination as 'Independent Booking Agency of the Year' after celebrating wins - both leaving us equally speechless - in this category the past two years.
We are thrilled to congratulate James Blake for winning the 2013 Mercury Prize for his album Overgrown! Known for celebrating the best British and Irish albums, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize ceremony took place at the Roundhouse in Camden earlier today, where James was announced as the winner from a field that included David Bowie, Disclosure and Arctic Monkeys, among others. We're extremely proud to add James to the list of Windish artists that have taken the top honor, including The xx for their 2010 self-titled debut album, and Alt-J for 2012's An Awesome Wave.
